Is Evite free? Yes, partly. Evite pricing starts at $0: any design labeled Free can go to up to 750 guests at no cost. But free invitations show ads and gift suggestions to your guests. Add one upgrade, like an envelope, a background, or an RSVP deadline, and you pay $17.99 to $99.99 for that one event.
I host a lot of parties, and I wrote a whole book about hosting a 2-hour cocktail party. I’ve sent invitations on just about every platform there is. Evite is the one people ask me about most, and almost always the same question: “Wait, am I about to get charged?”
So here’s every Evite plan, what it costs, and what you get. Prices checked October 1, 2026, straight from Evite’s own pricing and help pages (sources listed at the bottom of the price table).
Fair warning: Mixily is our product, so we have a bias. I’ll keep this about Evite’s prices first and give you the free alternatives at the end.
Quick verdict: Evite is free if you stick to a Free-labeled design and don’t mind ads on your invitation. Removing the ads costs $17.99 to $99.99 per event, or $249.99 a year for Evite Pro. If you want a free invitation with RSVPs and no ads at all, Mixily’s free plan is our pick for small gatherings. Start free on Mixily →

Prices checked October 1, 2026. Sources: Evite Help Center, “Invitation Pricing” (support.evite.com/pricing-and-billing/pricing-questions/invitation-pricing) and “Premium Pricing” (support.evite.com/premium/what-is-premium/premium-pricing); Evite Pro page (evite.com/pro); “Greeting Card Pricing” (support.evite.com/pricing-and-billing/pricing-questions/greeting-card-pricing); “Guest List Limit” (support.evite.com/products/invitations/manage-and-edit-guest-list/guest-list-limit). Cost per guest is our math.
That last column is the one nobody shows you. A Silver package costs about $1.50 per guest. Diamond costs 13 cents per guest if you fill it. Evite’s pricing rewards big guest lists and punishes small dinner parties.
Heads up if you’ve read older guides: some list Silver at “up to 15 guests.” Evite’s own help center now says up to 12.
Is Evite free?
Yes, for invitations built from a design labeled Free. Evite’s help center says Free designs “cost nothing to send unless you add a Premium upgrade.” You can invite up to 750 guests, track RSVPs, send by email, text, or a shareable link, and get read receipts.
The catch is what your guests see. Evite’s free vs. Premium chart lists “No ads” as a Premium-only feature. Free invitations also include gift suggestions for your guests automatically.
So “free Evite with RSVP” exists. It just comes with banner ads and gift links next to your party details.
What triggers a charge on a free Evite?
This is where most people get surprised. You pick a Free design, customize it, hit send, and suddenly there’s a checkout page.
According to Evite’s “Free Invitation – Asking for Payment” page, adding any of these to a free design switches you to Premium pricing:
- An envelope, stamp, or liner
- A sticker or background
- Effects and reveals (the animations)
- A host photo gallery
- Backside text (double-sided invitations)
- An RSVP-by date (deadline)
- Ad removal
- Removing gift suggestions
The RSVP deadline one surprises people the most. Evite’s RSVP-By Feature page confirms it: turning on a deadline for a free design upgrades the whole invitation to Premium.
The fix is simple. On the checkout page, choose Downgrade to free. Evite strips the upgrades and sends the free version.
Look for the crown icon at the top of the editor before you hit send. Evite shows it as soon as a free design has been upgraded, so you know a charge is coming.
Add an RSVP deadline “just to be organized” on a free invite. It flips the whole thing to Premium. Put “Please RSVP by Friday” in the invitation text instead. It costs nothing and works just as well.
Are Evite Event Pages free?
Yes. Evite says Event Pages are “completely free to use. No upgrades, no hidden fees,” for up to 750 guests. They’re built for casual stuff like book clubs and dinner parties. You get event details, sign-ups, a textable link, and RSVP tracking, with fewer design options than a full invitation.
Is Evite free if you upload your own design?
No. Evite’s Upload Your Own Design page says those templates “are Premium,” so there’s a charge to send. If you made a beautiful invitation in Canva, expect to pay at least $17.99 to send it through Evite.
Does Evite have a free trial?
We couldn’t find one. Evite’s help center doesn’t mention a free trial for Premium packages or Evite Pro. The free tier itself is the “trial.” Evite also says it doesn’t offer corporate or nonprofit discounts, though it “occasionally runs promotions” through its newsletter, social media, and site banner.
How much does Evite Premium cost?
Evite Premium costs $17.99 to $99.99 per event, based on guest list size: Silver ($17.99, up to 12 guests), Gold ($36.99, up to 30), Platinum ($68.99, up to 75), and Diamond ($99.99, up to 750). Each package covers one invitation only. Evite Pro, the yearly plan, costs $249.99.
Here’s what Premium unlocks, per Evite’s “What is Premium?” page:
- No ads on your invitation
- Exclusive Premium designs
- Animated effects and reveals
- Envelopes, stamps, and stickers
- A host photo gallery
- The option to remove gift guides
- Double-sided invitations
Notice what’s not on that list: RSVP tracking. You already get that for free. Premium is mostly about looks and getting rid of ads.
The guest-count trap
Packages are priced by guest list size, and that’s where the real cost hides.
Say you’re throwing a 40th birthday and your list hits 31 people. You just jumped from Gold ($36.99) to Platinum ($68.99). One extra friend cost you $32.
It gets worse if you buy too small. Evite’s “Increase Invitation Package” page says there’s “no option to pay just the difference.” You have to buy the bigger package, then email support to ask for a refund on the first one. And unused guest credits are non-refundable and can’t be moved to another event.
I always tell hosts to invite more people than they think they need, because some people will always cancel. (Here’s how I think about who to invite.) That habit is great for your party. It’s expensive on Evite.
Count every single invite before you pick a package, including the friends you’ll “probably add later.” Buy the tier that fits your final list.
Buy Silver for 12 guests and plan to top up. You can’t pay the difference. You’ll pay for a whole second package and hope support refunds the first.
How much is Evite Pro?
Evite Pro costs $249.99 per year. That gets you unlimited Premium invitations and greeting cards, up to 2,500 guests per invitation, no display ads, your own logo, and unlimited upload-your-own-design invitations.
Evite pitches Pro as “the smartest pick for 3+ events a year.” That’s true only if your events are big. Here’s the break-even math:
| If you’d normally buy… | Pro pays off after |
|---|---|
| Diamond ($99.99) | 3 events |
| Platinum ($68.99) | 4 events |
| Gold ($36.99) | 7 events |
| Silver ($17.99) | 14 events |
If you host small dinners with 10 people, you’d need 14 of them in a year before Pro beats paying per event.
Two billing details worth knowing, from Evite’s cancellation and refund pages:
- Pro auto-renews. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date, or “you’ll be charged for another year.” Cancellation is desktop only.
- Canceling early doesn’t refund the time you have left. You keep access until the end of the term.
Is Evite Premium worth paying for?
Sometimes. Here’s how I’d think about it.
Pay for Premium when:
- It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event (a wedding shower, a 50th, a retirement party) and the envelope-and-reveal moment matters to you
- You’re inviting 100+ people, where Diamond works out to pennies per guest
- You run lots of big events for a school, club, or business, which is exactly who Pro is built for
Stay free when:
- It’s a casual party, game night, or potluck
- Your guests won’t mind a banner ad
- You just need RSVPs, which are free anyway
Here’s what a year of hosting costs on Evite if you want your invitations ad-free:
- 4 parties with 25 guests each (Gold): $147.96
- 6 parties with 25 guests each (Gold): $221.94
- 12 monthly dinners with 10 guests each (Silver): $215.88
- Unlimited events on Evite Pro: $249.99
That’s real money for something guests look at for about 30 seconds. And what actually gets people to show up is follow-up. A simple reminder message the day before does more for your turnout than an animated envelope ever will.
Perhaps you’re thinking, “Ads aren’t a big deal.” Honestly? For a lot of parties, they’re not. But if a banner ad on your kid’s birthday invitation bugs you, you don’t have to pay $17.99 to make it go away. Start free on Mixily →
Free Evite alternatives
If you’re searching “free evites” or “free evite with RSVP,” you probably want three things: $0, RSVP tracking, and no ads. Here’s how Evite’s free options stack up against Mixily’s free plan. (Again, Mixily is ours.)
| Evite Free invitation | Evite Premium | Mixily Free | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $17.99 to $99.99 per event | $0 |
| Ads | Yes | No | No ads |
| Design quality | Big template gallery; envelopes, backgrounds, and effects cost extra | Exclusive designs, envelopes, animations | Clean, simple event page |
| RSVP tracking | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Guest capacity | Up to 750 guests | 12 to 750 guests, by package | 50 invites and 40 RSVPs per event |
| Active events | No cap listed in Evite’s help center | One event per package | 2 at a time |
Let’s be fair here. If you need to invite 300 people for free, Evite’s free tier is more generous on headcount than Mixily’s free plan. You’ll just have ads.
Mixily makes sense for the parties most of us actually throw: small, free, no ads, and nothing to upgrade by accident. Mixily is for free events only. It doesn’t sell tickets or take payments. If you outgrow the free plan, paid plans are monthly: Lite is $19/month (5 active events, 100 invites and 100 RSVPs per event), Pro is $29/month (10 active events, 250 and 250), and Plus is $79/month (unlimited active events, 1,500 invites and 1,500 RSVPs per event). There are no ads on any plan. Nick Gray (that’s me) acquired Mixily in January 2026.
Want more options? Our full list of the best Evite alternatives ranks five of them. We also round up free tools to manage RSVPs, and break down head-to-heads like Evite vs Partiful, Evite vs Punchbowl, and Mixily vs Evite. For a fancier, paid-stationery feel, see Evite vs Paperless Post.
Whatever you pick, the tool matters less than the ask. My guide to getting people to RSVP works on any platform. And if you want the whole hosting system, here’s how I run a 2-hour party.

The bottom line on Evite pricing
Evite is free if you keep it plain and accept ads. Everything fancy, including the RSVP deadline, costs $17.99 to $99.99 per event. Evite Pro’s $249.99 a year only pays off if you host several big events.
Before you send, look for that crown icon. And count your guests before you buy.
