Creator Spotlight: humhum

humhum facilitates virtual conscious dating and connection experiences— think speed-dating, but slower, partly silent. humhum reminds us of the sacredness of relationship, providing a safe, high-vibe container to practice connecting face-to-face in ways that realign us with our own essence. Their virtual experiences turn speed-dating on its head, using mindfulness, movement, and guided dialogue to connect meaningfully and playfully with others.

Enjoy the process of dating

humhum feels like a valuable use of time regardless of matching outcomes. We practice connecting with curiosity and presence and release attachment to an outcome.

Connect meaningfully with others

Practice listening, and be witnessed—experience vulnerable and light-hearted interactions with others via guided discussion, shared silence, and play. We engage our bodies and minds, rather than just eyes and brains.

Practice, learn, evolve

Learn tools like mindfulness and reflection to reconnect with yourself while meeting others. We cultivate discernment, presence, and curiosity.

The vibe? Novel, mindful, connected.

Alexandra Ballensweig, founder of humhum, has been using Mixily to host her virtual events. We sent her questions to learn more about humhum, virtual events and her event tips. Read on!

1. Introduce your business.

humhum is a digital platform for conscious, face-to-face connection, offering virtual and in-person dating experiences. Think speed-dating, but slower, and partly silent.

2. How often do you host events?

Every two weeks

3. What’s an upcoming event you are organizing that you’re most excited about?

SF/Bay area based conscious dating experience

4. Have you always hosted virtual events or how have they become part of your business this year?

I'd been hosting several events in-person pre-COVID. Once NYC began to quarantine, I had several folks reach out asking if I was planning to take humhum online. I got an event on the calendar ASAP and I've been hosting all events virtually since.

5. Any positive results of hosting virtual events?

Yes! WE can scale to share humhum with new geographies more easily, and I'm seeing that our community appreciates a virtual event as their first event experience as it is lower initial commitment with high reward. Many still want in-person experiences, so I plan to continue those once it's safe to, but this time in quarantine has informed a new vision, and a virtual product strategy that allows conscious dating to be a scalable offering.

6. If someone was looking to host an event for their first time, any words of wisdom you would give them?

Be intentional. Every little detail can be an opportunity to make people feel cared for, and seen. Don't use the defaults for thank you messages, and write a custom message on how people can prepare, what they can expect, and what the vibe is. You can begin setting the tone for your event before it starts. If you're not charging, and attendance matters, expect a good percentage not to show who sign-up.

7. Since using Mixily, what is your favorite feature?

The ability to offer a sliding-scale that starts with $0 to customers to pay what they feel. I enjoy leaning into the generosity of others.

8. Do you have any pre-event rituals to get you in the groove like a favorite drink, snack, song or outfit?

I burn palo santo to make my space feel fresh, and yes, I play some music.

9. Any new favorite podcasts, books or TV shows you’ve discovered this year?

I've discovered illustrated book Blossoms and Bones by Kim Krans. It's magic.

10. What is your favorite or most used emoji?

⚡️

11. Where can readers learn more/sign up for upcoming events/follow on social?

@humhumspace

www.humhum.space/sign-up < they can join our community by creating a profile to be kept in the know of relevant events and blind-dates.
