Creator Spotlight: Celange Beck Yoga

Celange Beck, like many other yoga instructors, has pivoted her business to include online yoga classes. She still meets with students weekly in Washington D.C. for yoga in the park, in addition to her five classes each week online. Celange has been using Mixily to sell tickets to her yoga classes. She also launched a new program, For yourSelf, a personalized program designed to support you in accomplishing your goals and achieving your dreams. It uses tailored yoga, guided meditation and daily one-on-one coaching to lead you in your endeavors and keep you accountable. Read on to learn about Clenage.

Introduce your business.

I’m Celange Beck, a certified RYT 200 Hot 26 & 2 yoga instructor and guided meditation coach committed to helping you achieve your dreams. A few years ago I left my 9 to 5 job, intuitively knowing that the work-to-live lifestyle wasn’t right for me. I took a big leap of faith in order to follow my dreams. After receiving my yoga certification in beautiful Bali, Indonesia, I dug deeper into my yoga practice and gained more clarity, focus and commitment to both my practice and my dreams each day. Yoga has rewired my mindset and lifestyle for the better. It endlessly enlightens me, centers me, nourishes me and allows me to live life at my highest vibration and fullest potential.

I want to make sure yoga is accessible to everyone. I teach individual classes in Washington D.C. and now online, as well as I mostly focus on helping clients with a 6 week long program to help them develop skills to manifest their dreams through a daily practice of yoga and meditation.

How often do you host events?

I’m currently hosting 5 classes a week, a mix of online and in-person in Washington D.C. The full schedule of classes is on my website. I also offer private lessons and a personalized yoga and meditation program.

Have you always hosted virtual events or how have they become part of your business this year?

Before 2020 my classes were always in person, it’s still a bit of a struggle with the virtual world. I host yoga in the park and a lot of the students who come don’t want to attend online classes. I’ve been able to reach new people with the in-person weekly classes and also offer classes online. One class is both online and in person so there are options.

If someone was looking to host a yoga class for their first time online, any words of wisdom you would give them?

Because online classes are different, I would say to do a short 10-15 minute practice to make sure your little virtual world is set up right. Check sound, lighting, positioning of the camera, that the mat set up at the right angle. Have another person on Zoom check it out first because hopping into the class.

It’s also nice if you can add a little something extra to your class, to motivate people to come online. Like a card reading and theme the class around the tarot card or Friday happy hour for people to connect together after the class.

Since using Mixily, what is your favorite feature?

I love the look and feel of it. If I put up a cover photo, I like that the whole background takes on those colors. The eye catching features look really good. I also like the ticketing process between a free, donation and fixed price because it’s easy to understand. It was really obnoxious to figure out on Eventbrite.

Do you have any pre-class rituals to get you in the groove like a favorite drink, snack, song or outfit?

It depends on the circumstance and time, usually a 10-15 minute meditation. I’ll take a good chunk of time to set up my space and make sure it’s not 2 minutes before to roll out and get ready. I need to check what kind of mood and energy I posses and transition into teacher mode. Sometimes I’ll also listen to my favorite song, or plank for 30 seconds.

Any new favorite podcasts, books or TV shows you’ve discovered this year?

Queen Afua's Sacred Woman - in realm of yogi in healing and spiritual healing. We don't talk properly about what's happening in our wombs .

Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind: Informal Talks on Zen Meditation and Practice - I’ve been meditating a while but it’s not my favorite thing to do. It’s helpful to understand where beginners are and how to ease them into meditation.

What is your favorite or most used emoji?

Oh my goodness I use so many emojis!
