“I have loved the convenience and community of my virtual venue through Mixily. There is no hassle with making sure people have the right link and I don’t have to stop what I’m doing to watch the waiting room. We are meeting right on my website, so I can easily reference events and posts for people to check out. The virtual venue also has a more exclusive feel... like we’re all hanging out in my own private co-working space that just happens to be virtual. Lastly, we spend a lot of time on certain video platforms and it all kind of runs together. Having a completely different look and feel for my events is super refreshing! ”

Introduce your business
PoppyLead helps people-pleasing entrepreneurs find their backbone. We dig into the personal leadership development side of starting a business; topics like limiting beliefs, selt-trust, protecting boundaries, etc. Clients feel confidently in charge of their life and business and are empowered to ditch the self-sabotage, constant hustle, and scarcity mindset!
How often do you host events? How are you using Virtual Venue for your community events?
I host a PoppyLead Power-Up every Monday morning for entrepreneurs to come together and get "powered-up" for the week ahead. We check-in and share a guided meditation to step into our intuitive leadership. I also host 2 monthly Pomodoro Parties, which are 2 hour co-working blocks for folks to work-from-home in the presence of others.
What’s an upcoming event you are organizing that you’re most excited about?
I love the weekly PoppyLead Power-Up! It's such a fun way to get in the mindset for the week ahead. I always leave feeling connected to myself and others.
Have you always hosted virtual events or how have they become part of your business this past year?
This iteration of my business has always been fully virtual. I've hosted in person events on behalf of other groups many times and expect that my business may one day include them as well. I welcomed the rise in virtual connection and know that virtual events will forever be a big part of my community.
Any positive results of hosting virtual events?
I'm less lonely! :) It's easy to kind of work vortex sometimes when working from home. Having a slew of virtual events that I am hosting and attending on the schedule definitely keeps my spirits up! I've met people I may never, ever had connected with. For example, I've never lived in NYC (haven't even visited in a decade at least), but I could probably name 30+ people I now have *close* relationships with after almost a year of seeing each other in virtual events.
If someone was looking to host an event for their first time, any words of wisdom you would give them
Engage with people! Ask questions. Get them in the chat. Promote activity. Sometimes as a host or presenter it is hard to gauge how folks are doing and it feels like you're talking into the abyss (especially if cameras are off), so check in on your audience and include them in the conversation (rather than talking at them).
Since using Mixily Virtual Venue and Ticketing, what is your favorite feature? And how have they helped your business?
I love the easy payment integration, so I don't have to worry about getting a check or anything. I also love the easy Duplicate event feature. Since I host something weekly, it was nice to have seperate events without having to re-enter all the information. (You'd assume this is standard, but I've used a number of events platforms and it's not)
Why are you using Virtual Venue instead of other video chat tools?
I love being right on my website with my menu at the top of the page. I can direct folks to different areas on my website and it just feels more personal and like a closer-knit community!
Do you have any pre-event rituals to get you in the groove like a favorite drink, snack, song or outfit?
Ohh, I love throwing on the song The Drum by The Siege or pretty much anything by P!NK. These will without fail get me SUPER pumped every time.
Any new favorite podcasts, books or TV shows you’ve discovered this year?
I'm currently obsessed with the book A Happy Pocket Full of Money. It is truly changing how I view the world and I can *feel* the leveling up happening. Also, I was perhaps too excited to find How It's Made on Hulu. I spend a lot of time in the spiritual/mindset space, so seeing industrial engineering tickles my brain in a fun and creative way.
What is your favorite or most used emoji?
Ohhh, probably a three way tie between 🥳, 💪 , and ⚡️!
